He is an experienced coach and mentor with a unique approach to supporting, encouraging and challenging leaders to be the best they can be in an unpredictable and demanding world. His track record of developing talented people in advanced technology organisations extends over 40 years.
As well as providing a powerful blend of practical coaching and mentoring expertise, Stephen has a rare commodity: extensive experience of almost every challenge that comes with seniority, from building and leading successful teams to managing change and organisational transformation, developing and implementing strategy, continuously improving operational performance and winning business. He has experienced every level of seniority from technician apprentice to CEO and understands the critical importance of engaging staff at all levels.
Nobody gets it right every time, and Stephen is the first to admit that he has made mistakes. Crucially, he’s always been alert to the opportunity to learn from any experience. As such, he is a non-judgemental and trustworthy coach and mentor who creates an empathetic rapport and learning environment for his clients.
Stephen began his career as an engineering apprentice and, after qualifying as an electronics design and development engineer, progressed into various technical leadership roles. He eventually transitioned from technical leadership into mainstream general management and executive leadership. He has worked at organisations within commercial, defence and service sectors and with numerous government organisations globally.
He combines an ability to recognise and develop the potential of individuals with great empathy and personal experience of the context and challenges of organisational leadership.
Stephen has benefited from world-class professional development, training and supervision and this, combined with his first-hand experience of working at all levels, underpins the way he works with clients.
